EMPOWERING WOMEN IN FINANCE THROUGH ANGEL INVESTING

In the Women’s Day special edition of the “Words from an angel” Florence Korhonen talks about enriching women’s financial capability - one of the drivers to achieve gender equality. Finland is one of the world’s leading countries in fostering gender equality. It was the first country to grant full political rights to women in 1906, and for over 100 years women have had active roles in working life and decision making. Equality has raised Finland to the top ranks in various ratings. However, there is need for more action in order to achieve gender equality.

​Finnish Government’s current Action plan for gender equality for 2016-2019 aims for more equal situation in the labour market by reducing the gender pay gap, decreasing gender segregation in the labour market and providing equal representation on company boards.

One of the key drivers to gain gender equality is financial independence, describes Florence Korhonen, an angel investor with a passion for female investor networks, female entrepreneurship and social impact investing.
